Sheepherds! – Cosy Co-op Good Time
In a sea of co-op games built around timers, panic, and shouting about ingredients, Sheepherds! trots in with a big doggy grin and says: “Let’s just have fun.” Instead of frantic kitchens, you’re herding sheep through colourful landscapes, and it’s clear right away that the aim is good vibes, not stress.

Hit the Fields
The premise is beautifully straightforward. Sheep drop from the sky, you and your doggy friend round them up, and then guide them into the clipper hut or pen. That’s it at first, no time limit, no pressure, just a chance to get a feel for how your dog influences the flock. The early stages are gentle and playful, letting you experiment and enjoy the cosy pacing at your own speed.
Learning to Herd
What makes the game surprisingly satisfying is how the sheep respond to your positioning. You have a little arrow that shows the direction of influence, and nudging the flock around feels almost like steering water. You’ll quickly realise that standing in just the right spot can cause the sheep to drift smoothly through tight gaps, and when you manage to guide them in a near-straight line, it feels oddly heroic.
Then the game layers in its standout mechanic: colour-changing flowers. Sheep can pass through flower patches to change colour, which becomes a key mechanic of collecting a set number of specific colour dyed sheep. If you mess up, no stress, you can always run them through another flower patch to fix it. Some levels introduce colour mixing as well, but the game remains completely laid-back, letting you experiment without penalty.
Various landscapes add extra quirks, like streams that wash off colour or waves that briefly block your way, but even these remain in tune with the game’s gentle style. Nothing feels mean-spirited or punishing. You simply take your time, try again, and enjoy the view while you’re at it.

Optional Challenge
For those finding things too casual, there are multiple extra challenges to each level. These act as a checklist and are optional. Including herding extra dye sheep, making fewer mistakes or finding secrets. We had a go at a few of these, but felt this was best kept for the players with more patience and who want to lengthen the experience.
You can dog walk through the campaign in under 2 hours, but this is, of course, extended for the perfectionists out there.
Playing Together
Sheepherds! truly shines in co-op. With up to four players, either locally or online, it becomes a lighthearted bundle of laughter. Trying to coordinate herding with someone else is equal parts skill and comedy: one of you accidentally scares a sheep in the opposite direction, someone else misjudges a bark, and suddenly the flock is dancing in a zig-zag pattern. It’s madness in the best possible way, silly chaos, not stressful chaos, and it creates those memorable “did we really just do that?” moments that make co-op games special.
Single-player is included and entirely playable, but it inevitably loses some of that spark. This is a game built around shared moments, shared laughs, and the warm feeling of solving a small puzzle together. Alone, it’s still pleasant, but the magic is definitely in the group experience.

A World Full of Colour and Cosiness
Between levels, you can relax in the big field: a peaceful hub area where you read sweet letters from your grandma, snap photos, or enjoy little mini-games like doggy football or a whack-a-mole challenge. It’s a lovely way to break up play sessions, and it adds personality without ever pushing you.
Cosmetics are plentiful too, accessories, outfits, and many new dog breeds all earned through play. It’s incredibly easy to end up with a sheepdog that looks completely ridiculous or absolutely stylish, depending on your mood. The visuals across the whole game have a warm, vibrant look that feels handcrafted and welcoming.

Conclusion: Good Doggo
Sheepherds! is a wonderfully positive co-op experience that embraces calmness without ever becoming dull. It’s easy to pick up, rewarding to master, and full of gentle humour, whether you’re playing with one friend or a whole group. I spent hours herding across colourful fields and came away smiling every time.
This is a game that understands the joy of playing at your own pace, and the joy of playing together. If you’re after something cosy, family-friendly, and sprinkled with just enough challenge for the perfectionists, Sheepherds! is absolutely worth checking out.
Final verdict: I like it a lot
